Hardware & Software Installation

Follow each step in order. Use Next Step to move forward once a step is complete.

1Hardware Installation 2Software Installation 3Firmware & Configuration 4First Power-On
Step 1 — Hardware Installation

Mount the board and wire IMU, power & control surfaces

  1. Mount VTOLMind Pro on a vibration-dampened plate, isolated from motor/ESC noise.
  2. Wire the dual-IMU expansion header (J2) for sensor redundancy.
  3. Connect the 5V_OUT accessory rail to peripherals that require it.
  4. Wire RC_IN (SBUS/PPM/CRSF) to your receiver.
  5. Connect motor/servo PWM outputs (M1–M8) per your airframe's mixing diagram.
Step 2 — Software Installation

Install the ground station and connect

  1. Install the VTOLMind Ground Station software for your OS.
  2. Connect via USB or telemetry radio.
  3. Confirm the reported firmware version matches the latest release.
Step 3 — Firmware & Configuration

Select airframe type and tune transitions

  1. Select your airframe type: tilt-rotor, hybrid VTOL, or tailsitter.
  2. Run the transition-tuning wizard for hover-to-cruise handoff.
  3. Calibrate the dual IMU and compass.
  4. Set failsafe behavior (RTL / land) for each redundancy tier.
Step 4 — First Power-On & Verification

Bench-check before the first VTOL flight

  1. Bench-test transition logic with propellers removed.
  2. Verify triple-redundant failsafe triggers correctly in simulation mode.
  3. Confirm control-surface direction and throw match the airframe.
  4. Complete a tethered hover test before attempting a full VTOL transition flight.
